I had the incredible opportunity to study abroad in Paris at the prestigious Paris American Academy. During my time there, I deepened my knowledge and skills through courses such as Fashion Design Studio I, Flat Pattern/Draping II, Couture Techniques and Tailoring, Art & Design in the 21st Century, and French Language. This experience not only enriched my education but also allowed me to immerse myself in the heart of the fashion world.

During my stay in Paris, we were tasked with creating a collection. I chose to focus on the concept of “Open Opportunity,” reflecting on the unique privilege I have as an African American woman to study abroad—an achievement that holds profound significance in my family. As the first in my family to embark on this journey, I drew inspiration from the doors that education and perseverance have opened for me. My collection celebrates this milestone, blending my cultural identity with the transformative experience of stepping into a global space, where I could embrace and showcase the power of possibility.

Archethical Blues" draws inspiration from the rain-soaked streets and the stunning architecture I encountered in Paris, weaving together the vibrant moods and energy I experienced during my study abroad journey. This collection captures the interplay of the city’s timeless structures with the dynamic rhythm of life unfolding beneath them, celebrating the harmony of tradition and modernity. Through color, texture, and design, "Archethical Blues" reflects the soulful essence of Paris and the profound inspiration it offered me as a creative.

We also created an accessories mini-collection, for which I drew inspiration from the metal barricades adorning the doors and windows of Paris. These intricate wire structures serve as protective exteriors, guarding the beauty and elegance found within—a reflection of the city’s timeless charm. This duality resonated deeply with me, as it parallels the way Black women, including myself, are often perceived. The world tends to focus on a hard, unyielding aesthetic, yet beneath that exterior lies a profound, undeniable beauty and depth. My designs aim to celebrate and challenge this narrative, showcasing the strength and inner grace that define us.
